Writer & Poet

I love the power of words.

With the right words a writer can command, captivate and, at times, control. And... I’ve just realized that I am a power-hungry overlord. Yet, those who know me best are not likely surprised. I’ve been called robotic, type-A, and an extreme lover of lists. But tell me is there anything more satisfying than jotting down what you want to accomplish and then scratching it off when done? I thought not.

But I am more. (Aren’t we all?)

I am a writer and a poet.

Regardless if there’s a pen in my hand or keyboard in front of me, I am always writing something. Is it good? Eh, art is subjective. But I do it.

I do it because of the power the words have over me. I admire how two or three words can be strung together and captivate my attention. I respect how a beautiful poem or story can command forth feelings I wasn’t prepared to feel in that moment. I want to create (is that not the purest form of control?) thought-provoking pieces that stay with the reader for days, months and maybe even years after they’ve read it.

Now you know my challenge.

I’m fortunate that my work is starting to get published.  (Insert image of a small snowball rolling down an icy hill until the ball is transformed into a behemoth ice boulder.) And because I know that is not likely to be the experience, I dedicate this website (my corner of the Interwebs) to share my writing adventures and misadventures.
